Large Flying Display Planned by Alenia Aerospazio

Paris provides the setting for what Alenia Aerospazio is billing as the largest ever flying display of its major aviation programs.

The list of aircraft that Alenia is cooperating on is led by Eurofighter, represented here at Le Bourget by DA7, one of the Italian prototypes, which is being demonstrated by Alenia test pilots

Alenia is working on an upgraded version of the AMX-T. Called the AMX-ATA, for advanced trainer and attack, that aircraft is still in development, so an AMX-T close air support aircraft is taking part in the airshow.

The C-27J has so far been bought only by Italy, with an order for 12 of the twin-engine airlifters. However, Alenia and its partner Lockheed Martin are vying for orders in Greece and Malaysia.

Alenia also has an ATR 42MP maritime patrol aircraft in the static display. It is the first of two for the Italian Coast Guard. Italy's Guarda di Finanza has also bought two ATR 42MPs, the first of which entered service last year.
