Business Aviation Will Feature
At Record-Setting ILA Show
A redesigned layout at next year's ILA Berlin international
aerospace exposition will feature a general and business aviation
avenue to separate the bizjets from the bombers.
The avenue will accommodate business aircraft up to the size of
the Global Express. Alongside the avenue will be a row of hospitality
chalets, so exhibitors can entertain prospective customers and
walk them straight out to their aircraft parked in the static
display.
At the far end of the avenue, at the western end of the exhibit
area, will be a dedicated heliport and helicopter static display
area, again with adjacent chalets. Flights from the heliport will
operate independently of the Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport, making
demos possible at any time.
This effort to make ILA more conducive to business stems not
just as an answer to the new, rival EBACE business aviation show
in Geneva, but from the strength-and expected growth-in the business
aviation and helicopter markets in Germany and the rest of the
European continent. Suppliers of services and equipment to the
business, GA and helicopter markets will be grouped in the new
Hall 10, providing a critical mass for the bizav presence.
Corporate visitors can fly in to ILA-a rarity at an international
show- with onsite parking at the western end of the exhibition.
"This really is a show within a show," says Rolf Dorpinghaus,
who is here with the ILA team on Booth 8716.
Over 1,000 exhibitors-a new record-are expected at the show,
which runs May 6-12. Aviation Week & Space Technology and
Aviation Week's Show News are official publications.
Highlights of the show will likely include the first public exhibition
of the Fairchild Dornier 728JET.
