Embry-Riddle Appoints New Chancellor for Prescott Campus
Daniel Carrell Jr. was appointed chancellor of Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University's Prescott, AZ, campus.
As chancellor, Carrell will serve as the chief administrative
officer of the campus and will be responsible for the overall
planning, resource allocation and program evaluation of campus
activities.
He had been the interim chancellor for the Prescott campus since
October 2000. Prior to that he was director of business administration,
and also served as chairman of the flight and aeronautical science
departments at the Prescott campus from 1987 to 1998. At Embry-Riddle
since 1986, Carrell first came to the campus as director of development.
Carrell is a retired infantry officer and military aviator
who completed two combat tours in Vietnam. He also served as chief
instructor and deputy director of the Department of Combat Operations
at the U.S. Army School of the Americas, Ft. Gulick, Republic
of Panama.
In 1990, he received a master of aeronautical science degree from
Embry-Riddle while working full time for the university.
"Together with the faculty and staff, he will continue
to build on the success of the campus, strengthen the bonds between
the university two residential campuses, and create a unified,
share vision for the campus and the university," said Embry-Riddle
senior vice president and chief academic officer Barry Benedict.
