Honeywell Heralds TFE731
Honeywell presented the 10,000th TFE731 turbofan, a
-20AR, to Bombardier for installation on a Lear 45. The TFE731
was the first high-bypass fuel efficient engine for business aircraft
that was not a derivative of an older military engine. It was
the first production propulsion engine to use an electronic engine
control. 99 percent of all TFE731 engines are still in service
with nearly 49 million hours of operation worldwide, Honeywell
says.
