Twinjet May Add a Double To Its Airbus Charter Fleet

Kuwait's Al Kharafi Group ownsthe Twinjet ACJ.

Twinjet Aircraft of Luton Airport, UK, operator of the first Airbus A319 Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), has bids in to operate and manage another ACJ-sized aircraft and also a medium sized corporate jet.

John Keeble, MD of Twinjet, said of the larger aircraft, "We can't yet say if it will be another ACJ." Twinjet is here at Booth 4829.

If successful, the bid on the medium sized jet will be announced here at NBAA. Keeble says he has just renewed a three year contract to operate his current ACJ until 2004 for owners Al Kharafi Group. The 28-seat ACJ is to have new certified seating fitted in the New Year which will increase seating to 34. Twinjet also manages and operates a Boeing 727-212 for Precision Air Ltd.

Meanwhile, Twinjet's ACJ is kept busy. Just before NBAA it delivered cast members of the movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone" to personal appearances around the U.S. east coast before heading back to the UK to fly a pop group on tour. Bookings for January and February are also looking good, said Keeble.

The ACJ has clocked up 90-plus charters over the last two years and carried over 3,330 passengers-a number of whom now ask for the aircraft by name: G-OMAK.
