Jet Aviation Adds Design Capability
In the U.S., and in Basel, Switzerland
With business aircraft operators putting maintenance, and fit-and-
finish issues second only to dispatch reliability, Jet Aviation
has used the past year to add to its service capabilities and
speed interior completions.
Three weeks ago, Jet Aviation set up Jet Aviation Engineering
Services in San Antonio, Texas, a consulting and design shop that
will specialize in airframe and interior modifications for business,
head-of-state and general aviation aircraft.
Located at Kestrel Air Park, 20 miles north of the San Antonio
international airport, the facility will employ 26 people.
Also in the U.S., Jet Aviation's maintenance facilities in Florida,
Massachusetts, New Jersey and Texas are offering a new maintenance
administrative service to aircraft owners and operators to assist
in tracking, planning, budgeting and coordinating main- tenance
on aircraft.
The Maintenance Management Service provides MRO assistance ranging
from recording and scheduling maintenance to personally monitoring
services performed by third-party vendors.
Jet Aviation's European operations have also expanded their capabilities.
In mid-November, Jet Aviation Basel's Engineering Department
was awarded the very first JAA Design Organization Approval Certificate
to be issued to a Swiss company. The certificate allows Jet Aviation
Basel to certify engineering work performed on major and minor
modifications, and to approve the work for minor changes on behalf
of the JAA.
"The approval covers design changes and modifications involving
avionics and instrument systems installations, electrical and
mechanical systems installations, cabin interior refurbishments
and completions of large aircraft," said Rainer Albecker,
vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation Basel.
And in other recent news, Jet Aviation Basel recently modified
the first Gulfstream V to receive a JAA certificate in Europe.
Work included structural modifications on the aircraft's wings
and pylons.
