Voice Warns of Traffic

"Traffic! 12 o'clock high! Two miles." That's not the safety pilot speaking, but a new, talking anti-collision instrument from Ryan International that has just received FAA TSO certification. The Ryan Active Interrogating 9900BX Traffic Alerting System (TAS) features audible alerts. When the TCAD processor senses an intruder with a calculated intercept course, the TCAD announces the traffic alert verbally, clock position relative to the nose of the aircraft, and distance of the intruder.

The 9900BX TCAD provides maximum 30 second warning at a 1,200-knot closure rate while simultaneously tracking up to 50 aircraft, and monitors airspace over 20 miles. It uses a phased array antenna system for interrogation and reception of Mode A, Mode C, and Mode S transponder signals. Ryan is on Booth 6941.
