Piedmont Hawthorne Signs Up for Saab Corporate Shuttles

Piedmont Hawthorne has been appointed the exclusive marketing agents for three ex-General Motors' corporate Saab 2000s.

In April, one of the Saab 2000s in three-abreast shuttle configuration was delivered to Penske Jet Corporation to support Penske's NASCAR racing team. There are no current plans to market corporate Saab 2000s beyond these two remaining aircraft, according to Michael Magnusson, President and CEO of Saab Leasing Inc.

Dean Harton, President and CEO of Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation Services, described the cooperation with Saab on the 2000s, and on refurbishing and marketing smaller corporate shuttle 340 turboprop aircraft, as "a promising business opportunity.

"We are using our extensive overhaul facilities in Harrisburg, PA and Winston-Salem, NC, employing our national sales force, and our extensive in-house Saab expertise," he said.

Piedmont Hawthorne is a full service aviation company, and specializes in new and used aircraft and airliner sales, corporate aircraft maintenance and management, component overhaul services for airline operations and FBO (Fixed Base Operations) at 34 locations throughout the U.S. & Canada. The company also operates a FAA part 135 charter and FAA part 121 airline operating Boeing equipment under the name PACE Airlines. Piedmont Holdings, Inc. is also the parent company of Associated Air Center heavy jet completion company in Dallas, TX.
