TRW Promotes Self-Diagnosing FADEC

On the corporate and regional scene, TRW's new FADEC is designed to meet rugged cost targets and timescales. The FADEC has built-in test and maintenance software and employs both low-cost hardware and software, making it a viable option for corporate operators, the company claims. TRW is also displaying at NBAA a stereo-lithographic model of its highly efficient hydromechanics fuel control system.

TRW engine controls are aboard the Cessna Citation X and the Embraer ERJ-135 and ERJ-145 regional jets, while the company's variable-frequency main generator and control units are on the Bombardier Global Express. The variable-frequency electric power generation system was the world's first to be certificated on a turbofan aircraft and is approved by Transport Canada, the FAA and JAA.
