Single 'Mega' STC Suffices for 412 Revamp

L.A. Fire's 412EP was extensively revamped by Jet Source with one STC.

Jet Source, an FBO at the Palomar-McClellan Airport in North San Diego County, was recently awarded a final STC for its reworking of a Bell 412EP for EMS, SAR and other missions for the Los Angeles Fire Department-and says the reduction in paperwork requirements was the FAA's idea.

"Because of the complexity of the project as a whole and the systems involved, we were directed to this new format by the FAA to accomplish the entire completion under one STC" said project manager Gene Dannenberger, "We are able to remove systems not required by other agencies and still reference the work from this STC," he said. More than 36 aircraft subsystems and 96 components were modified.
