for EC-135
Shreveport, LA-based Metro Aviation has FAA approval of a new single-pilot
IFR kit for Eurocopter EC-135 helicopters. The systems work with the
aircraft's basic Sextant displays, incorporating a pair of Garmin
GNS430 NAV/COM/GPS units with marker beacon, altitude alert, radar
altimeter, dual-channel DME and standard audio. Several air medical
operators with corporate customers have placed orders, says Metro
managing director Milton Geltz. "It provides an economical solution
to higher priced older technology," he said. Metro is working
on a single-pilot IFR for Honeywell (Bendix King) dual-tube EFIS-40
aircraft too.
