MD Helicopters has qualified its Explorer to carry three different weapons systems. The company recently completed six days of testing at Ft. Bliss, TX, successfully firing a General Dynamics GAU-19/A .50 caliber Gatling gun, 70mm (2.75-inch) rockets, and an M2 .50 caliber gun pod. The testing was to qualify the arms for Explorers flown by an international navy operator. The quals open the door for other military, paramilitary or government operators to purchase and arm MD Explorers.
