Panalpina Airfreights 'Copters Through Luxembourg

Multinational Panalpina (helicopter transport activities are headquartered in Vancouver) is showing a video of its helicopter shipping work in Luxembourg at Booth 2127 at Heli-Expo. Highlights include positioning of a Sikorsky S-76 into a Boeing 747 freighter. Panalpina has also just shipped a trio of S-76s from Guatemala to Texas by ship.

Western Canada's Panalpina claims to have activities on no fewer than six continents, and at Heli-Expo this year is talking up air freight action via its major European hub in Luxembourg.

Panalpina helicopter shipping manager Juerg Boschung traveled to the Benelux country last year to train key Panalpina personnel and supervise one of the company's first helo shipping jobs there.

Over the past 12 months nearly 10 helicopters were transported through Luxembourg, Panalpina says. They were either trans-shipped through Luxembourg, trucked there for airfreighting to overseas destinations, or were brought to Luxembourg for final assembly and flown to final destinations in Europe.

Sometimes Panalpina provided not only customs clearance and logistical coordination, but arranged for cranes, forklifts and covered space for helicopter assembly, or breakdown.
The company is showing a video of its Luxembourg operations at Booth 2127 here.
