Pratt Aims to Claim 75% Market Share

Dutch Schreiner's two MD Explorers are PWC-powered.

Pratt & Whitney Canada expects to power fully 75% of all new-generation light twin helicopters delivered next year, according to its president & CEO Gilles Ouimet.

This goal does not seem so unattainable when one considers the PW200 engine series is the exclusive powerplant on the Bell 427 (which should ramp up in deliveries after mid year) and the MD Explorer, and that Turbomeca will not enter competition on the Agusta A109Power until the summer.

PWC and Turbomeca compete head to head on the EC 135, where nearly two-thirds of U.S. customers have chosen Pratt.

That's not bad for an engine that entered service just under five years ago!
