Bridging the Gap

Sited either side of the river Rhone as it wends it way into Lac Leman, the city of Geneva boasts many bridges. Its earliest recorded crossing point dates back at least 2,600 years.

Its newest bridge is but a few days old, but is no less important to EBACE attendees than was that vital link in Roman times. The new bridge links Palexpo Hall 7 with the static display ramp. It was the only way that the show organizers could provide easy access between the booths in the indoor arena and "airside" at Geneva International Airport, because an access road and substantial security fence blocks the direct path. A permanent metal companionway from the first floor of Palexpo, linked to ground level by two Swissairport portable airstairs, solved the problem.

Though perhaps not as elegant as some of Geneva's finest bridges, it saves showgoers a long hike to see the latest in business aviation hardware.
