More Training for More Pilots
Executive Jet, Inc. and Ohio State University have forged a new
partnership aimed at fostering faster pilot recruitment and also
furthering the areas of aeronautical research and product improvement.
EJI's support "will be a vital asset in preparing our students
for tomorrow's workforce," said Ohio State College of Engineering
dean David Ashley.
"We hope to see Ohio State's undergraduate flight training
program double its annual enrollment to 500 in the next two to
three years," said EJI VP Richard Smith.
Students will be able to enter an accelerated pilot training course
designed by EJI after they graduate from Ohio State. EJI will
also continue to recruit students to work as interns at its Port
Columbus International Airport operations headquarters, and will
consider selected students for scholarships and educational grants.
EJI further says that it will "consider commercializing products
and concepts developed by Ohio State faculty and students."
EJI operates the NetJets fractional ownership program, which manages
338 aircraft and has 449 on order. EJI, which like Ohio State
calls Columbus home, employs some 1,200 people there and 1,550
pilots worldwide.
