Embraer Tests Fatigue Unit

Embraer has successfully completed the first flight test of a new solid-state fatigue meter aboard a Tucano military trainer. Developed by Gulton-Statham Products of Ametek Aerospace, the unit features a micro-machined accelerometer and weighs just under one kilo. A serial data port permits easy uploading of aircraft configuration data and downloading of event and usage information for more than 300 flights, using Windows-based software. Ametek designed the fatigue meter to replace an older electromechanical unit that required extensive and costly periodic maintenance.
