New Antenna for Live TV on BBJ

Lufthansa Technik AG has in the past two weeks received JAA and FAA approval for its Two In One Solution (TIOS) integrated Satcom and direct broadcast satellite antenna on the Boeing Business Jet.

TIOS, which facilitates in-flight reception of some 400 TV channels worldwide, is mounted in a special plastic radome at the tip of the BBJ's fin, enhancing interference-free reception and transmission.

The unit weights about 30 kilos-a fraction of the weight of a fuselage-mounted antenna. Lufthansa Technik will install TIOS on BBJs at its Hamburg headquarters, or supply installation kits and drawings to other BBJ completion centers.
