FSI Makes It Look EASy

Ever-busy FlightSafety International weighs into EBACE with new contracts to build training simulators that emulate the Falcon Jet EASy and Gulfstream V-SP cockpits, both of which employ Honeywell Primus Epic avionics, albeit in different instrument arrangements.

FSI also reports FAA certification of its Level D sim for the Embraer Legacy and ERJ-145 regional jet. The simulator, which features FSI's ChromaViewPlus visual system, is located at the company's 16-bay DFW Center at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas. It's the tenth simulator for the Embraer type. There will be 18 in place at various FSI locations by the end of next year.

Looking ahead, FSI has a Level D simulator for the Fairchild Dornier 728JET in preliminary production. It's based on the Primus Epic in a six-screen configuration. Work is centered at the airframer's headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen, FSI says, noting that "resources created for the 728JET will be duplicated for the 928JET to parallel the introduction of each aircraft." Two FSI specialists are on-site at the German location, helping develop 728JET flight training courseware and classroom materials in addition to the simulator itself.

A simulator for the Gulfstream IV at FSI's Philadelphia/Wilmington learning center has gotten the FAA's Level D nod too. The Delaware location "provides a new training option for G-IV operators" in the Northeast U.S., FSI says.
