Lufthansa, Bombardier Team Up on Bizjet MRO

Lufthansa Technik AG and Bombardier Aerospace have launched a joint venture named Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Service Center to provide MRO services for Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global Express business jets. Based at Berlin-Schonefeld Airport, LBAS will cover a broad territory encompassing Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the CIS states of the former Soviet Union. It has 70 employees and currently counts 60 clients with a combined fleet of some 250 aircraft.

In addition to the Bombardier business jets, LBAS holds JAA approval to service the Canadair CRJ100/200 and Special Edition, along with the Raytheon King Air 200/300 and 1900.

LBAS specialists provide a complete service ranging from short-term maintenance checks to extensive overhauls such as 12-year inspections. It is Europe's only MRO provider with Bombardier aircraft and avionics modification authorization. LBAS plans to expand its operations to other airports in Germany, including Frankfurt-am-Main for maintenance station, and before year-end will also extend its activities to aircraft interiors too.
