Let the Good Times Roll Some More

Asian Aerospace 2000 -- International Aero Engines likes what it sees as Asia gets over its economic flu, predicting robust sales of its V2500 turbofan-an engine that's already got 64% of the Airbus A320 family market in the region (reckoned by firm aircraft orders collectively requiring 454 engines) and is the only powerplant available on A319s and A321s.

"We are seeing increased sales activity as the Asian economies recover from their recent difficulties," said IAE president and CEO Mike Terrett. IAE already has a number of prestigious customers in the region and is well placed to win more business with the V2500," he said.

Besides its pole position on the Airbus A320 family, the V2500 powers 50 Boeing MD-90s flown by operators in China, Taiwan and Japan.

Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Japanese Aero Engines Corp and Germany's MTU are IAE partners. More than 530 V2500-powered aircraft have been delivered, and the worldwide fleet has accumulated upwards of 11 million flying hours.
