Asia Rules (in Commercial Jet Sales)

Despite its lingering financial crisis, Asia is projected to be the largest market for commercial jet transports over 100 seats in size over the next 20 years.

At 30% of the market, that means the Asia-Pacific region has a $420 billion, 6,000-jet potential, according to Boeing market forecasts. Through 1999 Boeing had delivered 2,076 jets to Asian carriers, or nearly one-third of all deliveries it made outside the US. Last year the company handed over 91 transports to Asian carriers-nearly one in every six Boeings built.
