Spirent Systems Is New Grouping of Five UK-Owned Aerospace Companies

Asian Aerospace 2000 -- Launched at the Show on Tuesday, Spirent Systems ('spire' pronounced as in church) unites the strengths of five subsidiary companies that form the Aerospace Solutions Group of the UK's Bowthorpe plc, based at London-Gatwick Airport.

Under the overall leadership of Group President Robert Potter, Spirent combines the activities of Penny & Giles Aerospace (voice and data recorders), Flight Data Company (replay analysis tools), Aviation Information Solutions (in-flight fault analysis), AvTech Solutions (maintenance assets management) and WPDS (maintenance, inventory and configuration management). These previous names will be phased out gradually as the new company structure is consolidated.

Spirent represents around half the activities of Bowthorpe, a company employing 8,800 personnel and with annual revenues of $930 million.
