Typhoon for Singapore?

Asian Aerospace 2000 -- Republic of Singapore Air Force pilots could get a chance to fly the Eurofighter Typhoon late this year. The RSAF has issued a request for information (RFI) for a fighter to replace its A-4s and F-5s after 2005, say Eurofighter officials. The RFI calls for a multirole aircraft that will also upgrade Singapore's air defenses.

Eurofighter expects the RSAF to follow its usual pattern when introducing a new type- acquiring a single squadron of aircraft at first, and buying more after service entry.

Cesare Gianni, president of the newly formed Eurofighter International export marketing company, said here Wednesday that the company's goal is to win 50% of an 800 -- aircraft market for advanced fighters over the next 30 years.
