An Apple Today Flies the Gulfstream Away

Recent customer for the Gulfstream V long-range business jet is resurgent Apple Computer, Inc, whose board of directors presented CEO Steven P. Jobs with his own aircraft last month. Gulfstream, which is now owned by General Dynamics, has produced some 1,150 aircraft-mostly jets, but also the twinprop Gulfstream I-since 1958. Presently employing 8,200 people at eight locations, its most recent product, on show at Asian Aerospace this week, is the winglet-equipped Gulfstream V, which is capable of flying 6,500 nautical miles at speeds of up to Mach 0.885.
