Dee Howard Expands Services

Dee Howard has expanded its services to include executive, VIP and head-of-state completions and refurbishment. With the arrival of a new Boeing 767-300 last week, the company has re-entered the aircraft completions market after being selected by Gore Design as the completion center.

Designs for this Asian head-of-state aircraft are in the final stages. Customer delivery is scheduled for mid-2001.

To handle the new work, Dee Howard will expand its site at San Antonio International Airport with construction of a $14 million, 100,000-square-foot completions hangar. It is expected to open in December.

The new hangar was designed to house two widebody aircraft wing-tip to wing-tip or four narrowbody aircraft. The dedicated completions facility can also accommodate a Boeing 747SP with its higher tail. Production capacity is expected to increase from approximately two million to three million man-hours annually as a result of the addition.

Dee Howard says it introduced the first corporate aircraft interior in the post-World War II era when it converted a Lockheed Ventura for use by government officials. That started an industry focused on providing transport for business personnel in private aircraft. In addition, Dee Howard produced the first-ever Learjet mock-up for Bill Lear.
