Cessna's Sovereign to Use Honeywell RE100(CS)
APU
Honeywell will supply its RE100[CS] APU as well as environmental
control and cabin pressure equipment for Cessna's new Citation
Sovereign business jet.
"By providing an APU, environmental control and pressurization
components, Honeywell can reduce overall costs," said Honeywell
Engines & Systems president Steve Loranger.
The RE100 is designed specifically for business jets. It is 20
percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than previous business
aircraft APUs, Honeywell says. It's rated at 135 equivalent shp
and can be operated in flight for electrical power redundancy.
The environmental and cabin pressure control systems for the new
Sovereign are "proven and robust designs" already in
service on Cessna Excel and Citation X aircraft. The environmental
pack employs a proprietary Honeywell 3-wheel, air-bearing cooling
turbine with integral primary and secondary heat exchangers and
low pressure water separation. The electro-pneumatic pressure
system is digitally controlled.
