Day 2

Dowty Yakima Thrives

Dowty Group's Dowty Aerospace Yakima is publicizing contracts for a variety of landing gear actuators for new aircraft from Cessna, Bombardier and Raytheon.

DAY will design and manufacture double-acting hydraulic main and nose landing gear and speed brake actuators for the new Cessna Sovereign. Development units will be shipped early next year and the first production units in 2002. DAY expects to provide 60 shipsets per month by 2005, and says the Sovereign business could be worth some $15 million over the next ten years.

Separately, DAY has a contract with Messier-Dowty under which it will supply a dozen different landing gear actuators--including small-diameter gear retract, auxiliary and door units--for Raytheon's new Hawker Horizon and for Bombardier's Challenger 604, Continental and the Regional Jet.

"This package could be worth $20 million over the next ten years," DAY said here.
