Eurofighter Flies with Latest FCS Version

Eurofighter has taken another step towards initial operational capability with the introduction of the latest Version 2B/2 revision of the flight control software (FCS). On Friday July 7, development aircraft DA2 took to the air from Warton to make the first flight trial of the 2B/2 software, with test pilot Keith Hartley at the controls.

A joint team of 230 engineers based in Munich and Rochester, UK is undertaking FCS development. System responsibility is held by the Military Aircraft Business Unit of EADS (formerly Dasa).
"The 2B/2 flight control system software marks a very important milestone on the way to series production standard. It improves the handling qualities of the aircraft remarkably (and) control harmonization is further improved," said EADS Military Aircraft president Karl-Heinz Hartmann.
