Raytheon Wins $23 Million
FAA Secondary Surveillance Radar Contract

The U.S. FAA has awarded Raytheon a $23 million contract to supply 50 sets of new monopulse secondary surveillance radars (MSSRs) for the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator replacement program. The award launches production and installation of up to 152 ATCBI-6s for modernization of the FAA's en route radar network, and follows successful testing earlier this month of two pre-production systems at Elwood, New Jersey and Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. ATCBI-6 replaces the aging civil ATC radar beacon systems used by the FAA to obtain identification, altitude, airspeed and track information from en route aircraft. The new systems will integrate with existing primary surveillance radars operated by the FAA and the Department of Defense in support of the U.S. national Airspace Systems. Raytheon is the world's leading supplier of MSSRs, with sales of more than 200 systems to 25 countries.
