RTM322 Order Could be Worth $1 Billion, Says Engine Maker Turbomeca

The Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM322 has been chosen for NH90 twin helicopters for Germany, Holland and France, Turbomeca reports, stating that the program could call for as many as 900 turbines worth approximately $1 billion. The first lot is for 400, with components manufactured "in each country" for final assembly by Rolls in Germany and Turbomeca in France. The British government has already ordered 352 RTM322s for two versions of the EH101 and for the WAH-64 Apache. Elsewhere Turbomeca reports an order for 60 Arrius 2K2 turbines for 30 Agusta A109 helicopters for the South African Air Force. Denel Airmotive will provide some components and subassemblies, and take charge of engine maintenance. Turbomeca further reports an order for 20 Arrius 2K1s for the A109 Power civil helicopter, and an order for a second batch of 52 TM333 2B2 engines for ALH helicopters by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
