TRW-Lucas Hoists A Few With Sikorsky After Signing $7 Million S-70 Deal

TRW Aeronautical Systems (Lucas Aerospace) has won a $7 million contract from Sikorsky for hydraulic rescue hoists for Sikorsky's S-70 and new CH-60 helicopters. The pact includes firm options for 21 hoists, 16 controllers and 34 hand-held control pendants, with potential options for over 100 more hoists and related equipment through 2003. The hoist, designed and manufactured by TRW at Brea, California, has a cable speed of 250 ft/min and integral heat exchanger. The controller has optional night vision compatibility while the pendant has a cargo hook release and intercom system. The CH-60 combines the basic UH-60A Black Hawk airframe with the SH-60B Seahawk's rotor and dynamics system. The S-70 is an international version of the UH-60.
