Luftwaffe's Raytheon-Dornier GIADS Is
Now in Operation Near Berlin

A 50 million deutschemark airspace control and reporting center has been delivered to the Luftwaffe and has just begun operation. Located at Schonewalde, outside Berlin, the facility is part of the new German Improved Air Defense System, developed jointly by Dasa and Raytheon. At GIADS' heart is a multi-sensor tracking data processing system, developed by Dasa's Dornier subsidiary, which can handle incoming raw data from 12 separate radar systems and present the information on VDUs. With more than 60 control and reporting centers distributed over the European territories of NATO, Dasa sees great market potential for modern command and control systems.
