BBJ 'Combi' -- An Executive Freighter!

Don't be surprised at talk of a Boeing BBJ "Combi"-yes, an executive freighter!

Boeing Business Jets is actively considering a new BBJ with a large, side-fuselage cargo door. This has already been developed and certified for the U.S. Navy's new C-40A version of the Next Generation 737, the 700C (Convertible), that can carry up to 70 passengers in the back and three pallets in the front

"Some customers are interested in a BBJ combi variant, and we are looking at it," BBJ president Borge Boeskov told Show News. One use could be for auto manufacturers that want to fly say, a proof-of-concept car as well as executives to a destination in Europe.
Because the BBJ uses the fuselage of the 737-700 (mating it with the sturdier wing of the 737-800) a BBJ Combi could be rolled out the door with a minimum of development.
