German Operator Orders Eight Citations

Cessna Aircraft has sold eight new Cessna Citation business jets to Atlas Air Service, its authorized sales representative in Ganderkesee, Germany.

The order includes four Citation CJ1s, three CJ2s and one Citation Sovereign, the largest proposed Citation variant now in the design phase.

"Citations are a perfect fit for the German business environment," said Michael Laux, Atlas Air's managing director.

Cessna plans to debut the CJ2 on July 26 at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and first customer deliveries are planned for late 2000.

Recently FAA certified, the CJ2 resulted from customers' desire for higher cruise speeds, more cabin room and greater range than the CJ1, itself a higher gross weight derivative of the original Citationjet.
The CJ2 features a wingspan three feet greater than the CJ1, Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and Williams-Rolls FJ44-2C engines offering 2,300 lbs thrust.
