Robinson Joins Pratt & Whitney

Fairchild Dornier, Bombardier/Learjet and AlliedSignal veteran Jim Robinson has joined engine giant Pratt & Whitney in the newly created position of president, aftermarket services.

Robinson is to create an organization to provide "nose to tail" aircraft services-a key part of P&W's new emphasis on the maintenance, repair and overhaul market.
P&W President Louis R. Chenevert said the company's fresh focus on aftermarket sales has seen revenues grow from "a few hundred million dollars a year" to more than $1 billion today.

"Jim will take us to the next step, setting the strategic direction for further growth and constantly improving financial performance in this vital business," Chenevert said.

"Pratt & Whitney Engine Services under Bob Weiner is the cornerstone of the new organization," Chenevert said. "Bob will continue to the set the strategic direction and lead day-to-day operations for our overhaul and repair businesses."

Earlier this year, Dutch airline KLM agreed to provide airframe maintenance as part of P&W's nose-to-tail program, an arrangement that includes Hamilton Sundstrand for systems and equipment work.

Most recently, Robinson served as president of Fairchild Dornier in Germany, where he oversaw the launch of the company's new regional jet line. Previously, he was president of Bombardier's Learjet unit, and is a former president of AlliedSignal's engine business.
