UK Bets on BAE Systems To Provide Multi-Year Mil-Satcom Support

A unit of BAE Systems Tactical Products, based in Christchurch, UK, will provide multi-year support to the UK's Satellite Anchor Station System. The basic performance period for the deal is three years, with options extending work for up to four additional years. The exact contract value was not disclosed, although the company said it was worth several million dollars. Stations to be supported are those at RAF Oakhanger, Colerne, and Defford. The stations are the core centers for the UK Military Satellite Communications System. The satellite communication constellation serves as the long-range, secure, high-capacity system for the British military for deployed forces anywhere in the world. BAE Systems attributes the contract win to experience gained with the Skynet 4 program. The work will be performed by Tactical Product's Communications & Defense Infrastructure business.
