British Airways Choses L-3 TCAS 2000

British Airways has chosen L-3 Communications' Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS) 2000 system for its 90-strong fleet of Boeing 747s and 777s. TCAS 2000 will now be standard on all of the airline's Boeing aircraft.

L-3 claims that the TCAS 2000 is the most advanced system in its class. It is designed for easy and flexible installation and provides processor and memory growth capacity for future upgrades.

L-3, a rapidly growing avionics and electronics company which was initially formed by the buy-out of former Loral companies, has moved into the TCAS market by acquiring the former AlliedSignal TCAS line. AlliedSignal divested its TCAS unit as part of its merger with Honeywell.
