Seminar #1 – Composite Repairs: Preparing for the Demand The use of composites in aircraft design is anticipated to save fuel through weight savings and to improve service life by eliminating fatigue and corrosion problems associated with metal airframe structures. This latter point creates the need to reevaluate existing repair and maintenance practices and to become more intimately familiar with composite repair procedures, composite/aluminum interface issues and life limit issues that composites/plastics present. As there are no agreed standards for these new materials, it also raises questions on regulations and training qualifications. Key focus areas:

Seminar #2 - Identifying and Implementing the Right Technologies for Your MRO Operations Technology can be significantly leveraged to improve maintenance preparation and planning. However, if the technology isn’t adopted and integrated into the maintenance process effectively, then it becomes another piece of hardware and just another project to add to the already over-tasked workforce. Learn from successful case-studies from key industry leaders, and hear their deployment and training strategies Key seminar points:

Where are the pitfalls in your supply chain, and how do you find/identify them? Organizations must comprehensively analyze the risks and opportunities on vendor/supplier relationships, cost-cutting measures, inventory management, logistical operations and more. In this session, discover beyond the traditional supply chain health indicators and metrics, and learn how to eliminate unnecessary and costly delays.
| B-2. In or Out? Knowing When and What to Outsource Airlines must take strategic considerations to determine which maintenance work should be outsourced and which should be in-house. There must be careful cost-analysis between the decision to either use an aftermarket provider or develop in-house capabilities. Hear benchmarking strategies on optimizing your outsourcing agreements and what you should take into consideration when making decisions on outsourcing.
| B-3. IFE from an MRO Perspective Competition continues to heat up as to who has the latest and greatest IFE gadgetry on board, and airline customers have certainly come to expect an increasingly sophisticated level of in-flight entertainment. From onboard WiFi to a dizzying array of entertainment options for video and music available for both seat-back, tablet and mobile devices, IFE is an increasingly important aircraft system. How are MRO providers handling the greater demand for IFE and balancing it with other MRO timetables and support, and how does it fit into their overall planning for supporting their clients’ MRO needs?
| B-4. Tricks of the Trade: Maintenance Forecasting and Planning Strategic, targeted forecasting and planning for operators and MRO providers is essential to remaining competitive and knowing when to spool capabilities or personnel up or down. With business flying slowly on the rebound, the potential for new business development in this sector abounds. Come find out how some MROs are successfully supporting business operators as well as generating new non-commercial customers, and what business operators are looking for in an MRO partner.
| C-2. The Training and Future of the MRO Workforce – Problematic or Not? Every year, MRO sessions predict dire problems because of a looming shortage of adequately trained MRO technicians and a repair workforce. Exactly when is this going to be an issue, and what are MROs and airlines doing to prevent such a situation? Are workforce concerns really valid, and if so, what should the industry be doing now to avoid this possible catastrophe? What do the regulators, as well as the training/education side of the industry, think needs to be done to address the aging of the MRO workforce and the need for new professionals to enter the industry? Where is the talent gap the greatest?
| C-3. Managing Waste and Hazardous Materials Disposal: The Latest Information on Requirements and Methods A lot has changed since fluids and materials from MRO operations were dumped in old cans and hauled away or poured down drains. What are the latest requirements for disposing of MRO waste and toxic chemicals and other materials generated by MRO activities? How can excess waste be curtailed, and what new technologies are helping operators to dispose of their wastes safely and according to regulations, and how has this changed over the years? This session will cover current requirements regarding disposal of MRO-generated waste materials, and MRO operators will share their the best methods and practices for waste disposal.

Interactive DiscussionMoving to a Paperless Environment for Efficient Lease Return Documentation With leased aircraft expected to make up over half the global fleet within the next several years and with several hundred aircraft transferring from one airline to another each year, proper maintenance and supporting documentation that meets lease contract guidelines will continue to be a major concern. Retention and transition of historical maintenance documents in paper format continues to be a barrier to efficiency for both lessors and airlines. Paperless electronic records offer great potential to improve record keeping and accountability, in addition to environmental benefits and excellent cost-out opportunities. But how quickly can we streamline the transition process and ultimately save the industry millions of dollars? Cooperation among the lessee, lessor, suppliers and MROs is the key. Although there are solutions available in the industry, what efforts have been made to implement/execute and be beneficial to all parties? This interactive discussion will bring all the key players together to explore and identify solutions for paperless documentation for enormous cost savings and efficiencies that are available when executing lease returns and transfers.
