With the introduction of aircraft such as the A380 and the B787, the mechanics toolkit is changing forever. A new MRO landscape is emerging as we look at the methodologies required to support the materials, equipment and technologies employed on these aircraft. General panel session PMA parts - the debate continues
The pros and cons of using PMA parts is an old debate but nonetheless an important one. Widening that debate, the panel would like to discuss the role of the OEMS in aligning themselves with the MRO organisations to provide parts solutions that deliver more value for money. Reducing cost shouldn't necessarily have to mean using the cheapest part. However, using an alternate, cheaper part shouldn't necessarily mean compromising on quality. What is the current position in terms of manufacturing of parts and where do the OEMs stand?
