Government & Industry—Making the Business of Security Happen
One Shared Goal
Three Vital Missions
- Transportation/Border Security
- Systems Integration/C4I
- Critical Infrastructure Protection
Created with the security professional in mind, this conference will deliver essential homeland security strategy, best practices and state of the art technology all designed to propel you, the security professional to the top of your industry. You will hear from and network with top security experts and local agencies from defense to transportation to aviation to infrastructure in discussing, developing, debating and creating security plans that work. No simple matter when considering:
- more than 700 million people travel to the US on commercial aircraft
- an average of 11 million trucks and two million rail cars cross into the US
- 22 government agencies work together to formulate national security plans as part of the Department of Homeland Security
- more and more private businesses have security advisors dedicated 100% to the task of keeping their employees, information and infrastructure safe from terrorist attack
This year's Summit will be the first public discussion of "Operation Atlas" the first live aviation terrorism exercise conducted in the United States since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Antiterrorism officials are planning a series of drills to test Boston's readiness for an attack, culminating with the simulated hijacking of a United Airlines flight from Europe that is forced to land at Logan International Airport. Dubbed Operation Atlas, the drills will involve some 50 local, state, and federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security. The McGraw-Hill Homeland Security Summit will be the first opportunity to dissect results of live simulation involving breached security for a transatlantic UAL 767 flight- including fighter intercept, onboard air marshals and a forced landing.
