Error Detection

Other related recommendations include asking airframers to perform feasibility studies for “simplifying the management of the aircraft’s configuration” to give the non-flying pilot more time to actually monitor aircraft performance rather than configuration and control modes.

BEA is also asking Boeing and Airbus to “re-evaluate” the possibility of pilots making input errors when selecting go-around modes, and determine the “means required to detect and correct” erroneous mode-selection during the go-around process.

“There is a conflict between the application of maximum thrust and an operating environment that rarely, if ever, requires it,” says the BEA.
