Ares I-X Weather Watch

NASA’s Ares I-X launch countdown is currently on hold pending concerns over the weather which is varying between clear patches and areas of higher upper-level winds with potential electrical storm clouds.

The liftoff has now been scheduled for 9:24 a.m. eastern time (against the 8.00 am original target) and the T-4 minute hold will remain in effect until 9:20 a.m. NASA says that although the weather currently is "green," the range could go "red" from time to time. The Ares I-X flight test vehicle itself appears to be in good shape, and the launch team is preparing to remove protective covers from the five-hole probe and total air temperature instrumentation at the top of the rocket which provide air speed, pitch and yaw angles, and the total and static pressure during the flight.
