Oshkosh: Plug And Fly

Or if you want to get that sequence right, I guess it would be unplug and fly. Take a look at this proof-of-concept electric aircraft from kit-builder Sonex. The same photo is also in our gallery. As I said in the caption there, based on comments made by company president John Monnett and chief engineer Pete Buck, it is projected to have an endurance of "only" one hour but even that wasn't possible ten years ago (the aircraft has not yet flown). It's a Sonex Waiex airframe with a 270-volt DC system powered by lithium polymer batteries, though other systems including fuel cells may take its place.
