Panther Stalks Targets (in photos)
The French navy in the coming years will receive a new version of the Eurocopter Panther helicopter for use on its frigates.

The helo is being fitted with a variety of new capabilities, including the Sagem Euroflir 410 (shown below on the left of the cabin).

But those features will not be fielded until 2012-2014. In the intervening time, the French navy is continuing to conduct anti-narcotics and a variety of other missions with the helo. The service’s 36F squadron showed off some of those capabilities to reporters. Here’s some photos from what was really a wonderful display, which included fastroping, chasing drug runners (well, a mock chase), and dropping of naval special forces:
