The French military says it’s destroying on average 50 metric tons of ordnance in Afghanistan as part of a wider NATO effort to rid the country of mines, improvised explosive devices and other hazards to the local population.

The ordnance destruction process involved around 49 troops coming from the 31st regiment, the 19thregiment, and the French navy. Unexploded ordnance removal relies heavily on remote controlled vehicles.
