Looking for all the world like an irritated Latin master whose pupil has failed to remember his declensions, the head of the British Parliament’s Defense Committee warned the Secretary of State for Defense, Bob Ainsworth, Nov. 24, the committee was minded to be “impolite” about one of the minister’s programs.
The case for the accusative is the ministry’s inability to account for the whereabouts of a percentage of its 36,000 or so Bowman tactical radios. The suggestion is that the location of up to 10% may not be known for certain.
Discussing yet another tale of Bowman woe, James Arbuthnot, the committee chairman, told the Secretary of State for Defense: “I suspect we will be quite impolite about this because the difference between losing equipment and not knowing where it is strikes us as being not very great.”
