Check 6 Podcast - King Airs Rule!
International Editor Robert Wall has been on vacation, so for this week's edition of Check 6 Senior Pentagon Editor Amy Butler and Senior Technology Editor Graham Warwick in Washington are joined by Senior Editor Guy Norris in Los Angeles to discuss:

- Surprise delay to the 747-8 - can't Boeing do anything right? (And, yes, Amy gets in a tanker mention.)

- US Army's Aerial Common Sensor to be a pimped-up King Air 350 - one way to stay clear of another joint program with the Navy.

- Congress votes to fund F136 alternate engine, with money from outside F-35 program - have they avoided a veto?

We close with our Missed Approaches: who put the D in Global Hawk?; artillery interceptors on the cheap; and US Air Force goes tight-lipped on KC-X.

Still no mention of the F136's recent 'dings & nicks' test event (http://www.dodbuzz.com/2009/10/07/dings-and-nicks-shut-f136-down), or the bearing issue from August (http://www.dodbuzz.com/2009/09/01/ge-takes-f-136-test-engine-offline). Seems rather one-sided given the two pages of coverage paid to the F135's LP fan tip issue. For the record I'm a supporter of the sole-source approach, and don't believe that any of these three issues are show-stoppers (that's why maturity testing is undertaken), but where's the fair & balanced coverage?

How about some real news?

"Hey Medvedev, we cancelled ABMs in Poland so you're going to back us on Iran right? "Nope, were going to adopt a nuclear first-strike policy instead."
