All Power To Boston Logan

I was thinking about my good friend Mark Ashley of the Upgrade:Travel Better blog when I heard that Boston Logan Airport has addedd more than 1,000 free power outlets and USB ports in its terminals. I am one of those geeks that actually travels with a 6-slot surge protector in my backpack, which makes me very popular in airports. My story is here (subscribers only) in Aviation Daily.

Mark is a fanatic about airports having enough outlets for travelers to power their myriad electronics (and so am I), and Logan is delivering. Logan's manager, Massport has spent $157,000 to install 520 power outlets and 520 USB ports under terminal seats and tables throughout Logan Airport.

The outlets and USB ports are located in the hold rooms at Terminals A, C and E and near Gate 37 in Terminal B, said Sam Sleiman, Massport's director of capital programs and environmental affairs. “We are working with the airlines at Terminal B, where the airlines have their own seating and holding rooms, for a similar system,” he said.

The airport is looking for a sponsor for the free outlets.
