Aircraft Manufcturing Advice from Ashton Kutcher
So I’m following my usual Twitter feed (@avweekbenet) yesterday when I saw a Tweet from Flight Global’s @flightblogger that gave me pause.  He had re-posted a tweet from actor Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) – who happens to have 2.5 million followers that said this: "A 30 year vetran pilot recommended 2 me that I dont ride on an airbus until they prove that the composite tail is not creating ths accidents."

Excuse the spelling, but you only get 140 characters in Twitter.  I don’t happen to follow Mr. Kutcher, but many of my followers do, which is how I heard about his Tweet.  @flightblogger made an interesting point – posts like this are why every major aerospace company needs to have a presence on Twitter.

Those of us who follow the industry have enough sense to set aside what some could call the ramblings of a celebrity with no real knowledge of aircraft manufacturing and engineering.  But among his 2.5 million followers – which expands as the post is re-tweeted to people not following him – potential misinformation could spread very quickly.  Looking at the top aircraft manufacturers, we have: @boeingairplanes, @bombardier and @embraer (but with no photo, no profile and no followers).  Just some food for thought…

This is really disturbing! Actually beyond disturbing. I dis-like the idea of people becoming afraid of air travel from standard media, but from a celebrity? I guess this is going to be one of the growing pains of Twitter, people are able to just speak their mind without a filter, not realizing the affect it could have.

AirlineBlog..."people...speak their mind without a filter". For just a moment stop and consider that "standard media" or "unstandard media" or the Bible, and all politicians have to be interpreted with the use of a filter, the listener's intelligence. Look at TSA, DHS. Strange and suspicious behavior to me.
